Program Description:
The GAMES program provides a year-round 5 days a week drug and delinquency prevention program serving a selective population - youth who reside in or in close proximity to Springfield Apartments, a public housing complex in the Frenchtown community. The program is designed to prevent neighborhood children aged five (5) to eighteen (18) from dropping out of school, using drugs or engaging in delinquent behavior.
The program utilizes the following techniques and activities to accomplish the program goals.
Drug Use/Abuse Awareness Training
Age-Appropriate Drug-Free Cultural-Education Activities
Skills Development
Social Bonding
Tutoring/Academic Assistance
Self-Esteem Enhancement
Family Support/Education
Home Visits
The program is divided into three sections:
Little GAMES
Serves children in Kindergarten through 2nd Grades.
Monday - Friday, 3:30 to 5:30 PM
Upper Elementary GAMES
Serves children in 3rd - 4th Grades.
Monday - Friday, 3:30 to 5:30 PM
Enhancement GAMES
Serves youth in 5th & 6th Grades.
Monday - Friday, 3:30 to 5:30 PM
